JavaNet Applications == Grasshopper Cross-Compiled Applications?

July 11th, 2007 by Adar Wesley

I’m wondering if we need to find a reasonable short name(not Cross-Compiled or Cross-Platform) for applications which are cross-compiled to both .NET and Java using Grasshopper.

here are some ideas (feel free to post your ideas in the comments)

  • JavaNet applications
  • .Java applications (notice the dot as in .NET)
  • JNet Applications
  • Cross or Crossed Applications
  • Dual Apps

Your ideas are welcome.

  1. Boris Kirzner Says:

It looks like the missing puzzle is a name for Mainsoft technology, and applications should be just named after it.
    My five cents:
    - Net4J (though it’s already occupied by http://www.sympedia.com/net4j)
    - JCLR, the Java CLR (i.e. one is to say “.Net applications running in JCLR environment”)

I like the JCLR, but it just sounds a little *too* technical.. like saying “CLR Applications” isn’t like saying “.NET Applications”..
    but definitely food for thought.
